What counts as open data for development? There are thousands of datasets that touch upon development issues - not just datasets 'about' development, but data on the environment, trade, population, health and more. Data comes from both international institutions and governments, and grass roots groups - although as we found in a recent exercise to map out available open development-relevant data on the web, local players are often under-represented, or do not publish their information as the sorts of 'datasets' that many open data advocates are calling for.

You can browse a selection of the data-relevant datasets and data sources our mapping researchers identified below (or view full screen). If you have a QR code reader, you can look up these datasets by pointing your phone's camera at the codes on each card.
